Invitation to faculty, staff and students: Celebrating Transformation

February 16, 2016

Dear West Virginia University Family:

As I wrote to you in a recent email, West Virginia University has reached a milestone that authenticates the quality of our institution on the global stage.

The University recently earned the status of “R1,” the highest level of research activity as defined by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

To celebrate this designation and to plan our University’s continued ascension, I invite you to the Erickson Alumni Center at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1. There, I will give a special State of the University address to outline strategic actions we can implement together for the betterment of West Virginia University and West Virginia.

We cannot stop progress. We must ask ourselves, “Where do we want to be in five years?” And we must build upon our dreams and established successes in areas such as academic programs, healthcare and transforming the state’s economy.

We will also have fun celebrating our achievement on March 1 with refreshments and a variety of other activities.

Let us come together as ONE West Virginia University to share these successes. I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

E. Gordon Gee
President, West Virginia University
